If you’re searching for Chill Factore in Manchester, you’ll find it under a new name: in September 2025 it rebranded as The Snow Centre Manchester. Same building, same real-snow slope, same spot beside the Trafford Centre. Plenty of maps and sat-navs still say Chill Factore, so search either way and you’ll land in the right place.
For anyone staying with us at Cornerstones on Washway Road, it’s one of the easiest wet-weather, cold-weather or “the kids are bored” days out in Greater Manchester. It’s roughly fifteen minutes away by car, it runs all year, and the weather makes no difference at all.
Getting to Chill Factore from Sale
The Snow Centre sits just off the M60 at Junction 10, at 7 Trafford Way, Trafford Park, M41 7JA. From Sale you join the M60 and head round to the Trafford side, which is normally around fifteen minutes outside the busiest commuter windows. The building is hard to miss, and there’s free parking on site with over 300 spaces.
That free parking is worth noting if you’re comparing bases. If you’re driving in from Cornerstones, our own parking is free too, so the car costs you nothing at either end of the day. It’s one of the quiet advantages of staying in Sale rather than the city centre, where parking a car overnight can add a real sum to a weekend.
What you can actually do there
The main slope is the headline. It’s the longest indoor real-snow slope in the UK, at around 180 metres, and it’s served by two ceiling-suspended drag lifts. Confident skiers and snowboarders use it for practice before a winter trip, and it’s much closer to a real mountain run than a dry slope.
Beginners start on the separate beginner slope, which is where lessons for all ages begin. Ski and snowboard lessons run in structured stages, and children as young as three can take short private sessions. Equipment is included with lift passes and lessons, so you don’t need to bring or buy skis, boots, poles, boards or helmets. Waterproof jackets and trousers can be hired, but socks and gloves can’t, so bring your own or buy them in the on-site shop.
If nobody in your group wants to ski, there’s still plenty to do. The Snow Park covers snow play, tubing and sledging, and the centre also has a luge track, airboarding and snowscoot. Note that some of the names in older guides (you may see “Blizzard Bowl” or “Downhill Racer” mentioned online) don’t appear in the current listings, so check the activity names when you book rather than relying on an older write-up.
Afterwards there’s an alpine-village area with food and drink, including a bar and kitchen overlooking the slope, plus the usual coffee and casual dining.
Prices, booking and what to wear
Prices change through the year and with the season, so treat any figure as a guide and check before you go. As a rough steer, main-slope lift passes have started at about £28.80 an hour per person, an adult level 1 lesson from about £60 at peak times, private lessons from about £57.50 for an hour, and Snow Park access from about £19. Booking online in advance usually saves a meaningful percentage, and lessons at weekends sell out, so book early if you’re travelling on a Saturday or Sunday.
The main slope isn’t for total beginners. You’ll need to link turns, control your speed and use the button lifts safely. If you’re not there yet, book a lesson on the beginner slope first. Age and height rules vary by activity, so check the booking page for the specific session before you commit, especially with younger children.
For clothing, think proper winter layers: a warm base layer, waterproofs (or hire them), and gloves. The hall is properly cold. Allow a good two hours for a session including changing, and longer if you’re building in lessons and a warm-up drink afterwards.
Turn it into a full day out
The Snow Centre is right beside the Trafford Centre, so the two combine neatly. A morning on the snow, lunch in the food court and an afternoon at one of the family attractions makes a full day without another car journey.
SEA LIFE Manchester and LEGOLAND Discovery Centre both sit in Trafford Palazzo, linked to the main centre by a covered walkway, so they’re an easy afternoon for younger children. LEGOLAND Discovery Centre is a single-entry-fee attraction, and pre-booking online is recommended to guarantee your slot.
Inside the Trafford Centre itself, Namco Funscape has bowling, dodgems and arcade games, Paradise Island Adventure Golf offers two 18-hole tropical courses on the second floor of The Dome, and the ODEON is right beside it if you’d rather finish the day with a film. Laser Quest is nearby too, for teenagers who’d rather run around than putt. The centre also has a wide choice of restaurants, and if you prefer to eat somewhere with a bit more character on the way home, Sale has good options: our neighbours at Blanchflower, Rudy’s Neapolitan Pizza and Mangiando Calabro are all worth a table.
Other indoor activities near Trafford
For something more adventurous, iFLY Manchester offers indoor skydiving in Trafford Park, a short drive from the Trafford Centre, and it’s a good pick for older children and adults who want a proper thrill without leaving the city.
